Wedding Advice from Top Denver Wedding Videographer Foster Creative Wedding Films

Hi there! Who are you and what do you do?

Hey! My name is Steven Foster and I’m the founder of Foster Creative, a cinematic wedding film company based in Boulder, CO.

What are the biggest things that a couple should consider when they’re hiring a wedding vendor?

Whether the product that vendor offers is truly what they want. They shouldn’t hire a vendor just because they’re the cheapest or flashiest, they should hire the vendor that’s going to create the exact experience they’re looking for. When it comes to videography specifically, I always have base packages, but I customize them to every couple to make sure we capture their day exactly the way they envision it.

What is your biggest piece of advice for couples on their wedding day?

Take a moment just for themselves, to forget about everything around them and to focus on each other, and the incredible decision they’re entering into with each other. Often an officiant or priest will ask them, during their ceremony, to take a moment to just focus on each other and reflect on their love and the reasons they’re standing before their friends and family in that moment.

What’s a great money saving tip that you can pass on to our couples?

Often, the later you wait to book your vendors, the better deals you’re going to get. You do unfortunately run the risk of them being booked on your wedding day, but if they aren’t, you can talk them into giving you some great deals!

Supporting local vendors is an easy and incredible thing to do. When you support local vendors vs. large national companies who have staff all over the US, you’ll usually get much better quality and service. Plus, you’re giving people who genuinely care about their craft an opportunity to do great work and be self-employed!

5 questions to ask yourself about the value of a Day of Coordinator

You’ve had a blast planning your wedding day. You found the perfect vendors for your style, linens and accents are in perfect contrast; no detail has been overlooked. With all of this careful planning, you’ve gone back and forth about whether or not to hire a day of coordinator to keep all the work you’ve done in place…

Here are 5 questions to ask yourself when thinking about hiring a day of coordinator:

1. “My photographer/DJ/aunt doesn’t really mind running everything, right?”

Okay, maybe your aunt is actually really excited about helping you out on your big day, but your other vendors are not. You hired them to do one job, and they can’t do as great of a job if they have to be in charge of keeping others on track. Leaving the moving pieces to us will help your vendors do what they do best, and let your family enjoy the festivities!

2. “Do I really want to clean up after my own wedding?”

Blowing out the candles on your birthday is fun; blowing out the candles on your twenty dinner tables however, not so much. You and your family should be able to leave the party and relax (or continue celebrating) with everyone else, not strip down your gorgeously decorated venue to its bare bones after a long, exciting day. Keep the magic alive and let us pack up your gifts and décor after your celebration.

3. There are last minute adjustments at EVERY wedding – “Who is going to answer calls from vendors while we’re all getting ready?”

You should not be on the phone with vendors minutes before your first look…sadly, this happens more often than you think. Luckily, we’ll already have the shuttle driver’s number and will confirm the hotel address and pick-up time for him so he never even thinks about calling you.

4. “If something goes wrong behind the scenes, would I rather find out during the reception, or after I get back from my honeymoon?”

Your day is, of course, going to be absolutely perfect. But, when something does come up, you don’t want to hear about any problem until it’s already been solved. We’ll know the ins and outs of your wedding weeks before it’s show time, so only thing you need to worry about on wedding day is….actually, nothing.

5. “Does anyone have a steamer?”

We do! Someone’s dress or suit is going to be wrinkled; it’s just a wedding day guarantee. Portable steamers are just one of the dozens of “just in case” items we carry in our emergency kits. Your groomsmen will tease us about them, but we’ll also be the first people they come to when a shoelace breaks!

If you have put in the work to plan your perfect day, you owe it to yourself to talk to one of our consultants about the peace of mind we can bring. Make your wedding day stress free and fun!

Wedding Advice from Top DC Wedding Photographer Kelly Walsh Loss Photography

Hi there! Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Kelly! I’m a documentary wedding photographer – which means I love capturing moments more than I love telling you how to stand, sit or cross your legs.

What are the biggest things that a couple should consider when they’re hiring a wedding vendor?

Personality! More than anything, the way that you connect with your wedding day vendors sets the stage for the wedding. Loving the people you work with with set the vibe for the day – oh, and insider tip, it shows in the photos as well. 🙂

What is your biggest piece of advice for couples on their wedding day?

In the middle of the day – look at your beloved, hold hands and just take in the moment in front of you. See if you can last 5 minutes alone together. 🙂 Never will you have all these people surrounding you in love again! Its easy to get caught up in the minutia of all the things to be done – make sure you find the time to enjoy and experience this moment together (instead of waiting until the day is over!)

What’s a great money saving tip that you can pass on to our couples?

Guest list! My favorite tip – when you are looking at your guest list, ask yourself this question “Would I offer to pay for this person for dinner at a nice restaurant?” If the answer is no, maybe reconsider adding them to your guest list. Not only do you want the best of the best people surrounding you, but if you normally wouldn’t pay for their dinner, why would you do it on your wedding day?

Unique, off-tradition weddings and elopements are my favorite! If you are having one of those… I’d love to hear more. How about over a cup of tea or glass of wine?

Wedding Advice from Top Dallas Wedding Photographer In Your Eyes Photography

Hi there! Who are you and what do you do?

John with In Your Eyes Photography, I help clients SAVOR their wedding day and make lasting memories.

What are the biggest things that a couple should consider when they’re hiring a wedding vendor?

Professionalism – you don’t want anything going wrong on your big day. One late or unprepared vendor can put a big wrench in the day.

What is your biggest piece of advice for couples on their wedding day?

Build plenty of time in the timeline to pause, take a deep breath, and cherish the beauty and meaning of the day. It’s going to go so fast, and usually something runs late, so the more buffer time you build in, the better.

What’s a great money saving tip that you can pass on to our couples?

Save money on the things that will be gone by the end of the night. The flowers will die, the cake will be eaten (or go stale), the decorations will be thrown out, but photo and video will last longer than any of us alive today.

Get the Most Out of Your Wedding Toast By John Harris of The Shine Band Boston

Read all the articles about How to Make a Great Wedding Toast you want, but I doubt many are written by a person who has heard over 1600 of them. Here are some helpful hints from the bandleader of a Boston wedding band. Just when the band and I think we’ve seen and heard it all, we haven’t! For those planning a wedding:

the-shine-band-boston-wedding-band-last-minute-weddings-cheap-wedding-deals-best-band-in-boston– A toast can bring people together but Time Counts.

I’ve seen toasts spontaneously ramble on for well over 40 minutes, while guests are trying to do their best to seem interested. How do you think that affected the dance time later on? Too much toasting time can be a momentum killer as much as a good speaker can elevate the atmosphere. It can also completely throw off meal service, as the wait staff is usually waiting behind the scenes, ready to serve.

-Keep the number of people who will toast to a minimum.

The magic number is three. Start with a welcoming by the host or parent of the bride and groom. Follow that immediately with the best man or maid of honor. If you must have more toasters: consider having them speak at a rehearsal dinner.

the-shine-band-boston-wedding-band-last-minute-weddings-cheap-wedding-deals-best-wedding-band-in-boston

-Have all the toasts done all at once, rather than at different times during your reception.

It’s difficult to interrupt the flow of your special event by demanding your guests’ attention when they are busy enjoying themselves. Trying to locate those who are to speak part way through the wedding can also be counterproductive. Occasionally we are told to invite a person to speak, and they aren’t even in the room…

-Don’t be afraid to politely tell a friend or relative to “keep it short.”

Mention that under two minutes is good, if you think they may seize the opportunity give a lengthy speech. A roomful of people usually has a short attention span. Last month I could tell that a bride was dying to grab the microphone from the best man after he recounted the groom’s entire history for twenty minutes, hadn’t said a word about her –and still hadn’t raised his glass yet. Toasting can create fantastic moments at a wedding, here’s to yours!

Chemistry! There needs to be a connection with the person who will be sharing your personal space with on your wedding day.

What is your biggest piece of advice for couples on their wedding day?

I suggest that you budget wisely, you don’t want to start a marriage with a great amount of debt due to wedding expenses. Focus on what’s most important when allocating funds and then save in other areas. Consider DIY projects.

with-this-ring-i-thee-wedd-washington-dc-wedding-officiant-cheap-wedding-deals-the-best-wedding-officiant-in-washington-dcWhat’s a great money saving tip that you can pass on to our couples?

You can save by eliminating favors. Favors are often left behind. The sentiment you attach to the item differs greatly from the sentiment your guests attach to it, to the guests it may be just one more thing to add clutter to their environment.

The day goes by so quickly, live in the moment. And understand something will not be according to plan, that’s life. The most important thing to focus on is your life partner and the joy you share with your partner!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR WEDDING MUSIC AS UNIQUE AS YOU ARE

All of us want to commemorate the significant moments in our lives because we want to remember them exactly as they happened.  Nearly all couples want something for after the event that will endure, be it photos or video.  Adding music to go along with the images enhances the memories immeasurably.  It becomes the soundtrack of your life.

Music and Memories

Most of us have had this experience: you hear a song on the radio, or during a TV show or a movie, and you are immediately transported in time.  You are no longer in the present; you are back in that moment in time when you first connected with it. You felt it in a physical sense then, and now that exact moment comes flooding back in vivid detail: where you were, what you were doing, and perhaps most importantly, who you were with.  You can still feel now what you were feeling then, just as if it happened a few moments ago.  Every time I hear “Saturday In The Park”, by the band Chicago, it’s a July afternoon in 1972.

This is the power of music.  More than any of the other art forms, music engages us.  It works its way inside us and touches our deepest feelings.  All of a sudden, you’re tapping your foot.  You’re singing along as loudly as you please.  You start playing air guitar or air drums.  Sometimes you get really crazy and just start dancing, because you can’t help it.  Your mood has changed, and your whole outlook right along with it.  What had been a not-so-great day just got a lot better, and all because you heard a piece of music that struck a familiar chord.  That music became part of the fabric of your life, whether or not you were aware of it at the time.

How You Can Make Your Wedding Music Uniquely Yours

How to Choose the Right Entertainment for Your Event

dj-paul-michaels-chicago-wedding-dj-last-minute-weddings-cheap-wedding-deals-top-rated-wedding-dj-in-chicago-

We all know entertainers can make or break events. Choosing the right entertainment is critical if you want to illicit that “WOW” response from your guests! Whether using an agency or hiring on your own, there are a few factors to consider when choosing appropriate and effective entertainers for your events.

1) Theme

Always think about the theme of your event when choosing your entertainment. It should compliment and reinforce the theme you are working with.

soli-studios-music-southern-california-wedding-musicians-last-minute-weddings-cheap-wedding-deals-best-wedding-djs-in-los-angeles2) Age of Guests

Make sure your entertainment is appropriate for the age range of your guests. Catering to your target audience will ensure a successful event that’s memorable.Think of something that will be unique and unforgettable to compliment the theme of your event.

3) Agencies

Entertainment agencies can save you a lot of time when hiring entertainers for your event. Hiring a band on your own requires locating bands geographically available to you, short listing them, looking for reliable recommendations, interviewing, checking references, booking and then management as you get closer to your date. An agency can help you choose the best entertainment to fit your event. Most of the time, you are able to review the performers’ work including photos or videos, which the agency can provide to help you make a decision. Since their reputation is on the line, you can typically be confident they are only using well-trained professionals.

4) Insurance

Do your performers have liability insurance? Professional entertainers typically carry their own insurance. Unintended injuries can happen with any type of event or performance and you want to make sure that you and your venue are not held liable.

just-4-fun-events-san-diego-wedding-dj-last-minute-wed-wedding-discounts-gangam-style5) Fees

Ask about fees! Are there any fees above the performer’s hourly rate? Set-up fees for example, travel and / or accommodation costs? Know the facts before you commit to hiring anyone as the cost of the performance could double if they’re expecting flights, food and luxury accommodation!

Taking these factors into consideration when hiring professional entertainers will help ensure a memorable and successful event for all involved. Please contact CK Entertainment Inc at http://www.ckentertainmentinc.com
