Bula is based on the Big Island, Hawaii but also frequently travels to the mainland US to perform.
Growing up in a small plantation town in Hawaii, Bula's family of musicians and entertainers ignited a love for music that would shape his career and later shape his community, too. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he studied music education and performance and earned a Master’s degree in Guitar. He returned to Hawaii where he has become an island favorite playing regular gigs across the islands and on the US mainland. Bula’s other love is teaching where he runs his own music school, Akamu Music Academy. His students have performed all over the Big Island and have won numerous first place awards.
